Fáilte Ireland has today published the details of the most popular visitor attractions in Ireland for last year.

The call of the wild proved to be irresistible to tourists visiting Ireland last year it seems, as more than 960,000 people visited Dublin Zoo, making it the country’s top tourist attraction.

The zoo was followed closely by the Guinness Storehouse which attracted 930,000 tourists, with The National Gallery of Ireland in third place, recording over 736,000 visitors last year.

The figures published by Fáilte Ireland show that the overall visits to the top ten fee-paying and top ten free attractions fell by almost 3%t during the past year.

However, the State body said that, given the fact that overseas visitors fell by 10% during that same period, the performance by these attractions is actually quite good.
