Two Australians, a man and a woman in their 60s, died when a tourist bus fell into a river in southwestern Kenya.

The accident occurred after one of the bus’s front tires ruptured and the driver lost control of the vehicle, which crashed through guard rails in Kenya’s Narok County, according to a local police chief, Reuters reports.

Three other tourists – an Australian, a Briton and a German – sustained serious head injuries and were transferred to a hospital in Kenya’s capital Nairobi.

About 20 other tourists – from Australia, Germany, Kenya, Switzerland, the United States and Britain – were also injured.

Tour officials said the group was headed to the Serengeti National Park in neighboring Tanzania.
