It was confirmed that a new tourism guide is now being developed for Ethiopia, a country rich in tourism attractions but sadly little known about further abroad. Lack of information is often cited when explaining the underperformance of the country’s tourism sector vis-a-vis arrivals, as neighboring countries further south have claimed the lions’ share of tourists visiting the wider Eastern African region.

In an email received from Safari Communications’ Denis Gathanju, he said: “We are working on a new tourism marketing guide in conjunction with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Ethiopia. This project has been in the works since last year. We will be doing something modelled on what we have previously done in Burundi so as to expose the tourism potential of what Ethiopia has to offer. I know you have been to Ethiopia and you will agree with me that the country has so much potential in regards to its tourism product, especially because what they have, is almost not found anywhere else in Africa.”

In a further social media statement Safari Communications then added: “Today we begin a new journey as we Explore the Enchanted Charm of Ethiopia. Work begins on a new tourism guide we are developing in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Get to learn more about this truly unique African destination. Experience its dynamic history, religious journey and its authentic culture in the all new tourism guide for Ethiopia: Explore Ethiopia.”

The guide will launch at the World Travel Market in London this November.
