MANCHESTER, United Kingdom: Renowned hotelier, Alex Polizzi, will open the 11th Annual Hotel Conference (AHC).

The leading event for the independent hotel owner operator in the UK will take place on the 15th & 16th October at the Hilton Deansgate Hotel, Manchester. The day and a half event will be opened by Alex Polizzi in a key note speech followed by a Q&A session on the afternoon of Wednesday 16th October.

Alex comes from a long line of hoteliers – her mother is the hotel designer Olga Polizzi; Sir Rocco Forte is her uncle and Lord Charles Forte, of Trusthouse Forte and Savoy fame, was her grandfather. After reading English at Oxford University, Alex trained at the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong, worked for Marco Pierre White at the Criterion, helped open various Rocco Forte properties as the company began business and then set up Millers Bakery, with her husband Marcus Miller.

Before taking over and stamping their mark on Hotel Endsleigh, Alex and Olga Polizzi had already launched the warmly praised Hotel Tresanton in St Mawes, Cornwall. Alex then took on another project: becoming the host of highly acclaimed show, The Hotel Inspector in 2008. With several series of The Hotel Inspector firmly under her belt, Alex’s latest venture The Fixer, hit BBC2 in January 2012 and is now on its third series. Alex is now one of the few faces of television to be across two channels, giving robust business advice wherever it is needed. She also graced our screens with her own Christmas special in 2013.

Commenting on her participation at the event, Alex said: “I am passionate about customer services. Too often this vital aspect of hotel operations is not given the prominence it deserves. It permeates every aspect of hotel life and can be the difference between simply managing and exceeding customer’s expectations. Having the opportunity to join fellow independent hotel owners at The AHC will be a joy as we are all guilty of becoming so involved in the daily grind of running a hotel that we rarely gather to share our experiences, challenges and successes. I look forward to meeting you in October at The AHC.”
