The representatives of the Bukhara regional administration, Uzbekistan Airways national air company, and other structures as part of the opening ceremony of the terminal, presented a symbolic key to the Director of the airport, T.Bakhranov.

The speakers at the ceremony noted that the construction of the airport and its infrastructure was carried out with consideration to the modern requirements of international airports. The new terminal will function around the clock and provide optimal conditions for passengers coming and leaving the city. This is the second announcement of airport expansions in Uzbekistan within this month. On October, 20, a new runway was started at Nukus Airport. Nukus is the sixth-largest city in Uzbekistan, and the capital of the autonomous Karakalpakstan Republic.

Now Nukus and Bukhara airports offer technical characteristics needed by international requirements for allowing all types of aircraft landing. Large-scale reconstruction of a runway of Nukus started on June, 20, 2011. Within 110 days, it was completed, and the runway was extended to 3,000 meters. New hangers have also been constructed at the airport. The new runway of Nukus airport is capable of accepting modern aircrafts А-310, А-320, B-767-300, and B-757-200.
