2011 ADEX Dive Show a success for Seychelles

Alain St.Ange, CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, personally led Seychelles’ delegation to the 2011 ADEX Dive Show, which was held last weekend in Singapore. He and his group were quite pleased with their participation in the show.

The delegation participated in the show alongside the Asia Geographic group of publications. Preparations for Seychelles delegation for the Singapore Dive Show had been organized by Myrna Michel, the Seychelles Director for Asia & Australasia, who had been working alongside John Thet of Asia Geographic magazine and their group of publications which includes Scuba Diver, Asian Diver, and Asian Geographic Passport represented by Jeffrey Kong, Kenneth Ezekiel, and Diego Gracia.

Mr. St.Ange was accompanied to the Dive Show by Myrna Michel, the Board’s Director for Asia & Australasia; Marymonde Matatiken, the Board’s Manager for Events & Conferencing; and Maria Morel, the newly-appointed Marketing Executive for Asia & Australia. Elizabeth Fideria, a known and experienced diving professional who owns the Big Blue Divers Center; Violetta Sredojevic from the local Destination Management Company; Mason’s Travel; and the Air Seychelles Singapore Office were also part of the official Seychelles delegation.

“The members of the Seychelles private sector present in Singapore alongside the Tourism Board’s own delegation helped make it possible for Seychelles to be in Singapore for the Dive Show to pursue that important and popular niche market. They believe in the Asian Market, and they are working with the Tourism Board to develop it,” said Alain St.Ange.

Seychelles has the best in sun, sea, and sand holidays and have now embarked on developing niche markets with covers diving, sailing, big game fishing or fly fishing, bird watching, bush walking, and events. In March this year, Seychelles hosted its carnival of carnivals where the Community of Nations were invited to showcase their own culture and people alongside the best and the known carnivals of the world. In November this year, Seychelles will be hosting its “SUBIOS, the Seychelles Festival of the Sea” at Beau Vallon Bay on the island of Mahe.

“We are moving Seychelles into the arena of events, because it brings our people and our visitors closer together. This also opens up the domestic tourism possibility for our business community. Tourism is based on human contact, and we are after pushing the unique attribute we have in having a level of tourism called ‘personalized tourism’ a step further, by opening opportunities for friendship to be developed through human contact,” said Alain St.Ange.

“Today Seychelles is being referred to as the ‘it’ destination for Asia and Australasia, and we wanted to use the ADEX Dive Show in Singapore to reassure Asia & Australasia that we will not disappoint them. Seychelles remains a very safe tourist destination with magical beauty and diversity,” Alain St.Ange told the press when leaving Singapore at the end of ADEX Dive Show.
