The Mövenpick Resort & Spa El Gouna is nestled on a peninsula, with its own exclusive beachfront. It offers spectacular views of the Red Sea, tranquil lagoons and lush gardens. All of the 420 rooms and suites are spacious and bright featuring modern amenities with private terraces or balconies, perfect surroundings to simply relax and unwind.

Green Globe recently recertified Mövenpick Resort & Spa El Gouna awarding the property a commendable compliance score of 81%.

The award winning environmentally friendly resort remains committed to the reduction of energy and water consumption, the separation and recycling of waste, the continuation of an eco-friendly purchasing policy, and conducting training for team members and increasing guest awareness regarding green practices.

Energy efficient lighting at the resort includes LED lighting, use of timers and motion sensors in public and back of house areas and power controlled key cards. Water saving devices are installed in bathrooms, showers and toilets. Wastewater is processed at an onsite sewage treatment plant and used to irrigate gardens.

The El Gouna Recycling Plant, where over 90% of refuse from local hotels and the community is recycled, supports the property’s waste management program. Waste materials collected from the property include paper, glass, tin, batteries, oil and spent light bulbs.

To lessen negative impacts on surrounding areas, Mövenpick Resort & Spa El Gouna uses Fair Trade and eco-certified products wherever possible. Furthermore, all employees receive training in water, energy and waste management through departmental briefings, sustainability training and via departmental communication boards. The resort’s Sustainability Brochure is available on its website.

The Green Team actively organize and promote various social and environmental initiatives throughout the year. Eco-friendly projects that take place include Earth Hour and beach clean ups. Last year’s annual A Kilo of Kindness campaign saw guests and resort team members working together to prepare school bags, stationary sets, school uniforms and shoes for the less fortunate children of Zerzara and Hurghada. More recently, the property held an Orphans Day Party on April 4 organizing food and fun activities for the children of Hurghada.
