Copenhagen gets another Scandic hotel

Hotel chain Scandic has announced that the Front hotel will become its latest hotel in Copenhagen beginning April 17, 2009.

Hotel chain Scandic has announced that the Front hotel will become its latest hotel in Copenhagen beginning April 17, 2009. The move comes after Scandic signed a long-term agreement with the Front hotel in an effort to expand its offer of smart hotel choices across the Nordic region.

“The Front hotel has a fantastic location by the water, near Nyhavn, the opera house and the Royal Danish Theatre, combined with an exciting design and many creative solutions to meet guests needs. This will make the hotel a hugely welcome addition to Scandic’s growing range of meeting places for conscious people,” said Frank Fiskers, president and CEO of Scandic.

Scandic Front will have 133 rooms, most of which have recently been refurbished in a warm and modern design. As part of the takeover, the remaining rooms will be refurbished and upgraded during 2009. The hotel also has a restaurant, a bar and a popular gym.

“We’ve long sought to establish a hotel in this part of Copenhagen, so close to one of the city’s best-known locations, Kongens Nytorv. In taking over the Front, we’re achieving that aim. With our other new hotel Scandic Palace Hotel, we’ve now acquired the two hotels in Copenhagen that have been top of our wishlist for a while now,” said Jens Mathiesen, head of Scandic Denmark.

“Scandic’s guests return to us on a regular basis for services they can rely on, for inspiration, for renewed energy and for the ability to make a smart and conscious choice of accommodation and meeting place. Scandic Palace Hotel and Scandic Front both fit in perfectly with this ethos, and I’m convinced that future guests will be extremely pleased with our exciting new hotels in Copenhagen,” added Mr. Fiskers.
