Seychelles welcomes South Africa delegation for carnival

“South Africa is proud of its culture and in so doing its people and will be showcasing themselves in the carnival as part of the Community of Nations,” said Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, commenting on the country’s delegation arriving for Carnival.


The South African delegation arrived in the Seychelles for the island’s 2016 carnival that will be officially launched this coming Friday. The delegation was greeted as they landed at Seychelles International Airport by Sherin Naiken, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board. The Minister of Tourism of South Africa, Derek Hanekom, is expected to land in Seychelles tomorrow as he is personally heading his “Rainbow Nation” delegation who are set to perform at the official opening of the carnival on Friday night and then parade in the street of Victoria alongside seven of the best carnivals of the world.
