Uganda Miss Tourism ambassadors prepare for boot camp

Tall and elegant Pauline Akurut, 19, of Soroti is now the Miss Tourism Teso region 2015/2016. She was crowned at the last regional Miss Tourism event held at the Trends Club in Soroti Municipality.

The A Level (High School) graduate beat ten other contestants to take the eastern crown. In second place was Josephine Atipe, 22, who was also crowned Miss Talent. Hope Linda Ateki, 23, of Pallisa District came on as second runner up.

“I am very happy for having been crowned Miss Tourism Teso, I am going to use my position for advertising Teso to the outside world,” an ecstatic Akurut said, adding that her passion and zeal is to educate and create awareness about the importance of the tourism industry in Uganda.

Miss Tourism Teso was the last regional event, before the final on August 28. The winners of the regional contest will August 13 move into a Boot Camp where they will be trained to in etiquette, soft skills and tourism. This is to help them become effective tourism ambassadors for both their regions and Uganda.
