Visit Winston-Salem announces Romona Williams as the new national sales manager responsible for booking faith-based, multi-cultural, and association meetings and conventions. Williams takes the place of Karen Robertson who has held this position for the past year at Visit Winston-Salem and was recently named as the organization’s convention services manager.

Boasting 15 years of hospitality industry experience, Williams was most recently area sales manager for Summit Hospitality Group Ltd. handling corporate and national business transient accounts for the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Winston-Salem Downtown. Prior to that, she spent approximately 10 years on the culinary side of the house as director of catering sales and banquet and catering manager with Columbia Sussex Hotels Ltd. and ARAMARK – both in Greensboro, N.C.

“Romona’s familiarity with the destination, experience in the industry and key contacts make her a tremendous asset for the organization,” said Richard Geiger, president of Visit-Winston Salem.

Having spent the past 12 months booking groups into Winston-Salem, Robertson is keenly aware of the needs and requests of corporate meetings and group events. In her new role, she will provide direct oversight for on-the-ground facilitation and servicing of convention business, including everything from housing coordination and on-site registration to local planning assistance and media support.

“Attention-to-detail is one of Karen’s best qualities, which ensures we provide exceptional service to any size group,” commented Geiger.

Centrally located in North Carolina, Winston-Salem offers diverse and vibrant experiences for meetings, conventions, and corporate events. Winston-Salem has an innovative vibe shaped by an intriguing mix of Moravian history, strongly supported arts community, and thriving industrial, financial, medical, and technology hubs. With more than 1,000 downtown hotel rooms within walking distance to the newly reinvented 105,000-square-foot Benton Convention Center, historic and innovative venues, Winston-Salem offers a variety of facilities to accommodate small groups as well as citywide events.
