Skal International Baku inaugurated

On October 8, Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan, became Skal International’s newest club in an inauguration ceremony held at the Hillside Hotel in Baku.

On October 8, Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan, became Skal International’s newest club in an inauguration ceremony held at the Hillside Hotel in Baku.

At the ceremony, Skal International world president Hulya Aslantas underlined during her speech that as a new tourism destination, Azerbaijan will certainly benefit from the networking opportunities Skal International offers and welcomed the tourism professionals in Baku to the Skal family.

Ruslan Guliyev, the president of the new club believes that Skal Baku has a very good representation of the tourism and travel professionals in Baku, and several new members will be joining soon. Among Baku’s members are the dean of the Azerbaijan Tourism Institute; Mr. Cafer Memmed oglu Caferov; Nahid Bagirov, president of AZTA; and Mr. Mahir Gahramanov from the Ministry of Civilizations and Tourism.

Skal is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year and was founded as an international association in 1934. It is the largest organization of travel and tourism professionals in the world, embracing all sectors of the travel and tourism industry with over 20,000 members in almost 500 locations in 90 countries.

Skal International is aiming at quality and supports sustainable development and responsible tourism and is an affiliate member of the World Tourism Organization Business Council, one of whose missions is to promote ethics in business, particularly the Global Code of Ethics issued by the UN World Tourism Organization, which covers peace, the environment, security, pollution, human contacts, and respect for local cultures.
