INDIA (eTN) – The city of Pune in India will host an Indo-Japanese cultural festival between November 8 and 9, 2014.

Danseuse Maneesha Sathe revealed that the festival will be a “melange of Japanese and Indian music and dance art forms.” While dancers from Japan will be performing Kathak, Indian artists will be showcasing their skills on taiko – the Japanese drums.

Sathe’s Maneesha Nrityala, which will complete 40 years in December, will be organizing the festival which will have dancer and composer Yasuhito Takimoto from Japan as one of its highlights. While the event has been conceptualized and choreographed by Sathe, the music and art direction will be from Takimoto.

One of the most significant dances to celebrate the coming together of Indian and Japanese artistes will be the fusion of Kathak and Hotsuma – the Japanese ode to Mount Fuji – on a taiko-based composition of Takimoto.

The festival will be held at the Ganesh Kala Krida Manch in the city from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
