HONOLULU, Hawaii (eTN) – A helicopter has reportedly crashed into a pineapple field in Kunia, which is located about one mile south of Wheeler Army Airfield this afternoon. Two people aboard are claimed to have been injured in the accident.

Premilminary reports claim that two men, the pilot and his passenger, “got out of the downed helicopter on their own.” They were transported to a hospital for further evaluation and medical treatment, after being treated on thee scene by the Federal Fire Department.

The pilot called for help at about 5:15 pm, citing engine trouble. It is unclear at this point whether the helicopter was being used for tourism-related activities. ETN will bring more information when it becomes available.
