Architecture and Italy: A winning combination for Seychelles tourism

Tourism in the Seychelles will definitely benefit from the islands’ presence in Venice at the Architecture Biennale. The Seychelles pavilion is directly on the Grand Canal, and the country’s name will be seen by over 8 million people during the days of the Biennale.

Seychelles architects are at the Venice Architecture Biennale in Italy. Featuring the work of local firm ADD.locus, a few weeks ago, the Seychelles made its fantastic debut at the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale in Italy. The exhibition itself, with the title “Between two waters,” will be seen by over 250,000 visitors. A successful participation in this prestigious event shows the world the cultural developments and the beauty of the Seychelles.

Rene Rietmeyer, who has been so helpful working alongside the Department of Culture of the Ministry responsible for Tourism and Culture to ensure that Seychelles was able to be present at this year’s Venice Architecture Biennale in Italy, said that the presentation of the Seychelles at the Venice Biennale is a great success. “Not only the press writes often and good about it and already more than 25,000 people have seen the exhibition in the last 2 weeks, also the banner of the exhibition, promoting the Seychelles on the Grand Canal, will be seen this year by more than 8 million people,” said Rene Rietmeyer.

Mr. Rietmeyer said also that the cooperation with the architects from the Seychelles went very well and it is with great pleasure that he worked to get Seychelles architects in Venice. “It is my intention to do the same for the next year Art Biennale,” Mr. Rietmeyer confirmed to the Seychelles Ministry of Tourism and Culture.

On his part, Alain St.Ange, the Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, said that he congratulated the architects who worked together to be represented in Venice. “You are putting the name Seychelles out on the Grand Canal for the world to see. In so doing, you are helping to increase the visibility of our islands,” said Minister St.Ange in the presence of PS Benjamine Rose.
