NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenya Airways has announced its partnership with the Zambian Ministry of Education in promoting the re-launch of the “Education for All” campaign. Under the auspices of Kenya Airlines, nine deserving Zambian pupils will fly via Kenya Airways from Lusaka to attend a week-long education exchange program in Nairobi.
Kenya Airways has long been in the forefront of corporate responsibility with their support of selected projects involving education, environment, water, and health within the countries comprising their service network. Kenya Airways’ CEO Dr. Titus Naikuni, who was in Zambia to officiate at the re-launch of the program, stressed that the airline is dedicated to supporting important projects throughout Africa. “Kenya Airways has identified education as a means of promoting sustainable growth in the continent, for this reason, we are giving back to the community across Africa by investing in education which is key to poverty reduction,” said Dr. Naikuni.
In a speech read on his behalf at the re-launch ceremony by Education Minister Dora Siliya, Zambian President HE Rupiah Banda called for combined efforts in promoting children’s education particularly in relation to alcohol and drug abuse. The “Education for All” campaign was re-launched with an emphasis on preventing child alcohol and drug abuse. Speaking at a post-launch briefing held by Kenya Airways, Ms. Siliya commended Kenya Airways for their support of the campaign. She commented that: “We are grateful to Kenya Airways for the response they gave us when we approached them about the campaign. We believe that the private sector has a key role to play in promoting education for all.”
