A spectacular evening for UK travel agents and press was held in Chandos House in London to mark the reopening of the Seychelles Tourism Office in London.

Seychelles High Commissioner Patrick Pillay, and members of the Seychelles National Assembly, Hon. Jeovana Charles and Hon. Bernard Georges, who were in London on Parliamentary dutiesm joined Seychelles Tourism Board’s CEO, Alain St.Ange, and his all Seychellois team for the new UK Office to celebrate this special occasion.

Mr. Patrick Pillay, the High Commissioner, addressed the evening by spelling out the partnership that existed between his Office and the new tourism office. “We are united in our mission for the benefit of Seychelles,” Mr. Pillay said when he assured the travel industry that the government of Seychelles was firmly behind the Tourism Board’s efforts to re-launch Seychelles in the UK.

Alain St.Ange, the Tourism Board CEO, said when addressing the gathered group of British travel agents and press that Seychelles was back in the UK and back to stay. Mr. St.Ange went on to assure the British travel trade of the Tourism Board’s determination to claim their fair share of the British market. He spoke about his new drive to make Seychelles more visible, and he reassured the press present that Seychelles was a serious tourism destination. “So serious about the importance of this industry that our President has personally taken over the tourism portfolio and that his Secretary of State is himself the chairman of the country’s tourism board,” St.Ange said.

Five UK-based Seychelles tourism ambassadors, Mrs. Georgina Dhillon, Mrs. Lynne Domingue, Ms. Brigitte Monchouguy, Mrs. Georgia Dunlop, and Mr. Roch Evenor had also traveled to London to be part of this special evening where Fiona Lane, the Seychelles Tourism Board’s UK manager and her two assistants, Stephanie Medor and Lorraine Louis, were introduced to the UK travel trade and press.

The Seychelles Tourism Board decided to launch themselves to the travel agents first because they said that they wanted the front line people of the trade to be well briefed because they were the ones selling tour operators’ programs. A second function will be organized with the island’s High Commission later this year with tour operators.
