World Travel Awards (WTA), the world’s only global organization dedicated to raising standards of customer service and business excellence in travel and tourism, has adopted Just a Drop, the international water-aid charity.

The awards have been described by the International Herald Tribune as the “Oscars” of the industry.

Money to support Just a Drop projects will be raised at each of World Travel Awards six regional award ceremonies, as well as the final, which this year takes place in London on Sunday, November 7, immediately prior to World Travel Market.

Award winners worldwide, covering everything from airlines, cruising, and car rental, to hotels, golf resorts, beaches, and spas, are increasingly used by consumers as a reliable, quality reference guide when planning a holiday.

“Just a Drop is a small charity with a huge heart, demonstrating over the past 11 years what a difference it can make to the lives of children and their families,” said Graham E. Cooke, founder and president of World Travel Awards.

“Sustainability is a major factor in the continued success of the industry and by supporting the brilliant work of Just a Drop and its growing band of amazing volunteer workers, often operating in remote areas where other larger charities are unwilling or unable to travel, World Travel Awards can not only help raise the profile of the charity, but also encourage others to give back.”

Fiona Jeffery, chairman and founder of Just a Drop said she was delighted at the support from World Travel Awards: “The money raised will go towards providing clean water and sanitation for communities who often share their only available water source with their livestock.” She added, ”There is no greater or more desperate, heart-rending message.”

In addition to the London final, regional ceremonies where World Travel Awards will raise funds for Just a Drop are: Africa and Indian Ocean (July 7, Johannesburg); North and Central America and Caribbean (September 11, Orlando); Europe (October 1, Antalya, Turkey); Asia and Austrasia and South America (October 14, New Delhi, India); and South America (October 20, Rio de Janeiro).
