Benchmark has named Joseph Cavet director of food and Beverage for The Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark. The Benchmark Resorts & Hotels property, located in Monticello, New York, within the Catskill Mountains, will open next month on 1,600 wooded acres, the site of the Resorts World Catskills entertainment complex. David Kohlasch, general manager, made the announcement.
“I am very happy to welcome Joe to The Kartrite,” said Mr. Kohlasch. “He comes to us with a distinguished background in food and beverage, and a keen awareness of the travel destination experience, including the culinary aspects, that will serve our resort well. We are glad to have him as an important part of our executive team.”
Joseph Cavet brings an impressive record of more than 15 years of leadership experience to his new position with The Kartrite. He was most recently multi-unit general manager for OTG Management, the company known for revolutionizing the hospitality industry at airports, where he led multiple food and beverage restaurant teams at both Newark Liberty International Airport and LaGuardia Airport. In this role Mr. Cavet was responsible for launching Taste of New York, partnering with New York producers to bring specialty food and beverage products to airports. Earlier, Cavet held leadership positions with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts at the landmark Plaza Hotel in New York City, with W Hotels in New York, and with the Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group.
Mr. Cavet attended Saint John’s University and is a graduate of Cornell University’s Hotel Management program. His love for the culinary arts goes back to his childhood, helping his father with annual winemaking, meat smoking and sausage making. Mr. Cavet resides in the Sullivan County Catskills with his family.
