The Director of Animals in Communities at World Animal Protection, Pankaj KC, responded to the ban of the dog meat trade in Bali, saying:

“World Animal Protection welcomes the news that Bali will ban its dog meat trade.

“For many years, there has been growing outrage around the world. Dogs in this trade are inflicted with cruel and inhumane practices. They experience horrific pain and suffering, including being strangled, poisoned, shot, and beaten to death.

“We now hope that other countries across the globe will follow Bali’s example to stop this cruel practice and make it a thing of the past.”

The organization hopes that governments and communities worldwide will create better lives for dogs by ending poor treatment and brutal inhumane culling practices.
