At least three people were wounded with a machete, two seriously, while the attacker was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds, according to Belgian media reports.


The incident happened at about 4:30 p.m. local time on Monday when the woman got into an argument with passengers on an MIVB bus in Ukkel, which is located just outside the capital city. Two people on the bus were injured while a third was injured after the woman fled from the bus.

There was no immediate word on the conditions of those injured, but none of them are believed to have been seriously injured. Police who responded to the area approached the suspect and fired their weapon after she ignored police commands, injuring the woman. She was not seriously injured.

Belgian officials did not provide information about a possible motive, but the prosecutor’s office said there were no indications of terrorism..
