During the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the World Tourism Network (WTN) demonstrates its commitment to philanthropy, particularly towards orphans. The WTN Bangladesh Chapter, like every year, under the leadership of Mr. HM Hakim Ali, Chairman, organized a heartfelt Iftar party on Wednesday, March 27, 2025, at Hotel Agrabad in Chattogram, Bangladesh.
Iftar is the name of the meal eaten by Muslims at sunset to break their fast during Ramadan. It is the main meal of the day for those who are fasting.Â
An Iftar meal is the most important meal of the day for Muslims, as it follows a whole day of fasting. Therefore, the Iftar meal must be as balanced and nutritious as possible.Â
Meaning of Iftar
While Iftar is a significant meal regarding health and nutrition, it also has a spiritual meaning and significance. At Iftar, Allah (SWT) shows special mercy and love to those who have been fasting and especially to those who have provided food for others.Â
The Prophet (saw) said, ‘Whoever feeds a person breaking his fast will earn the same reward as him, without anything being lessened from the reward of the fasting person’. [Tirmidhi]
Hotel Agrabad co-sponsored this Iftar event for local orphans. It is part of the organization’s ongoing social responsibility efforts. Over 100 orphaned children were invited to attend the evening’s event and enjoy delicious Iftar meals and sweets.
Hotel Agrabad, a 5-star guest facility, is Chittagong’s best business and leisure hotel.
At the event, Mr. Ali expressed the importance of giving back to the community and the significance of such gatherings for orphaned children. He emphasized that this event was a small yet meaningful step towards fulfilling their social responsibility. Mr. Hakim Ali further added, “
Our aim is to bring joy to these children’s lives, and we hope they cherish the memories made during this event.”
The children expressed their gratitude to Mr. Ali for organizing the memorable occasion. This Iftar party exemplifies just one of the many corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities planned by the WTN – Bangladesh Chapter, demonstrating their dedication to positively impacting society.
WTN Global Chairman Juergen Steinmetz said:
In a troubled world, Mr. Ali’s initiative for children is always a proud moment for all of us at the World Tourism Network. Thank You for making our Bangladesh Chapter very special.
