World Tourism Day is celebrated worldwide on Friday, September 27, including in Bangladesh.
The World Tourism Network (WTN) Bangladesh chapter celebrated World Tourism Day in a fitting manner at Days Hotel in Dacca.
The members and Tourism enthusiasts took part in the program. A discussion was organized, headed by Mr. H.M. Hakim Ali, Chairman of the Bangladesh Chapter, followed by Mr. Ashrafuzzaman Uzzal, President of the Bangladesh Travel Writers Association, and Syed Ghulam Qadir, Secretary of the Chapter.
After the discussion, a rally occurred in the streets of Bangladesh’s capital city, with people from different industries participating. A gala breakfast party followed this.
Bangladesh is emerging out of two months of violent and deadly unrest.
Hundreds of people died in the civil unrest that rocked Bangladesh in July and August, but efforts to determine exactly how many are ongoing.
World Tourism Day this year is under the theme: Tourism and Peace, what has a special meaning for Bangladesh.
Juergen Steinmetz, Chairman of the World Tourism Network, said:
“We thank Hakim Ali and his team for organizing this important event on World Tourism Day. We’re proud of our members and every one in Bangladesh’s travel and tourism industry who have shown resilience and leadership during difficult times. We will be on your site, rebuilding your excellent reputation as a preferred travel destination.”
