Icelandair, headquartered in Keflavik, has received its inaugural Airbus aircraft.
The A321LR is particularly well-suited for transatlantic flights, boasting an extended range that allows it to operate on routes of up to 4,000 nautical miles, and signifies the initial phase of the airline’s fleet modernization, establishing it as the newest operator of Airbus aircraft.
This delivery is the first of four units to be leased from SMBC Aviation Capital Limited, with an additional 13 A321XLRs scheduled for future delivery.
Equipped with Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, Icelandair’s A321LR features a total of 187 seats arranged in a two-class layout, comprising 22 Business Class and 165 Economy Class seats. The aircraft is designed with an Airspace cabin that includes XL bins, offering 60% more storage capacity than previous models, thereby facilitating a more comfortable boarding process for both passengers and crew. Furthermore, travelers with Icelandair will enjoy enhanced connectivity from gate to gate, state-of-the-art inflight entertainment options, and an advanced lighting system that promotes well-being and elevates the overall travel experience.
