Sabre Corporation and WestJet have entered into a multi-year extension of their distribution agreement. This renewed partnership will ensure that agencies connected to Sabre maintain access to WestJet’s extensive content, including upcoming New Distribution Capability (NDC) offerings. The agreement underscores the advancement of contemporary airline retailing.
With the introduction of NDC offers, Sabre-connected agencies will be able to provide their clients with a wider selection of travel options. This initiative responds to the industry’s growing demand for more personalized and transparent travel retailing, enabling airlines to distinguish their services more effectively, thus offering travelers enhanced flexibility and customization.
Upon the implementation of NDC, travel agents will have the capability to search, reserve, and manage WestJet’s NDC offerings in conjunction with its EDIFACT content via Sabre’s Offer and Order APIs, the agency point-of-sale solution known as Sabre Red 360, and the corporate booking tool, GetThere. Further information regarding the NDC implementation will be provided as the launch date approaches.
John Weatherill, Chief Commercial Officer of WestJet, stated, “We are delighted to announce a multi-year agreement with Sabre that will enhance our enduring distribution partnership. This agreement will encompass not only EDIFACT but also NDC content, contingent upon the successful implementation of technical connectivity. We depend on a reliable partner such as Sabre to provide services to a diverse customer base through real-time connectivity to both agency and corporate subscribers via the Sabre GDS.”
Roshan Mendis, Chief Commercial Officer of Sabre Travel Solutions, expressed enthusiasm regarding the ongoing development of the partnership with WestJet, stating, “Our collaboration is gaining significant momentum as we empower them to cater to a diverse range of travelers. We are eager to contribute to their sustained growth by providing technology solutions that ensure the widest possible reach for their success.”
