Vietnam Airlines has entered into a partnership agreement with UN Women for the period of 2024-2026, with the objective of advancing gender equality and empowering women within the organization, the community, and society as a whole.
The signing ceremony occurred in Hanoi on 15 October 2024, coinciding with the talk show “HeForShe: Promoting Gender Equality in Business – Enhancing Women’s Economic Empowerment,” which was organized by Vietnam Airlines in collaboration with UN Women. The event attracted over 100 participants from various businesses, government ministries, and relevant organizations. The initiative aims to engage leaders and men in creating an inclusive and equitable workplace, thereby promoting gender equality and empowering women.
Throughout the duration of this partnership until 2026, Vietnam Airlines and UN Women will implement several transformative initiatives designed to enhance awareness of gender equality. Both parties will conduct a variety of sessions for leaders and employees of Vietnam Airlines to discuss issues related to gender equality and gender-based violence, with the goal of eradicating violence against women.
Additionally, Vietnam Airlines and UN Women will focus on fostering women’s economic empowerment by organizing collaborative workshops and conferences to exchange best practices among companies that have adopted the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) in Vietnam.
Vietnam Airlines, as the national carrier, recognizes the importance of evolving into a progressive and equitable society through meaningful social initiatives. Throughout the years, the airline has implemented various programs aimed at challenging societal norms and stereotypes, while promoting active participation from individuals of all genders. On October 1, Vietnam Airlines, in collaboration with UN Women, organized a ‘pink flight’ to support the HeForShe campaign, during which they provided essential items such as televisions, refrigerators, and water purifiers to a shelter for women and children affected by gender-based violence in Can Tho City.
The HeForShe movement, initiated by UN Women in 2014, invites men and individuals of all genders to unite in solidarity with women, forming a strong, visible, and collective force for gender equality. This initiative has mobilized leaders, businesses, and influencers globally to promote actions that advance gender equality.
