Two veteran leaders at Southwest Airlines Co. have declared their intention to retire from their executive roles. Tammy Romo, the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, along with Linda Rutherford, the Chief Administration Officer, will step down from their positions, with their retirement taking effect on April 1, 2025.
Tammy Romo commenced her career with Southwest Airlines in 1991 and has occupied various leadership positions over the past 33 years, including roles such as Head of Investor Relations, Controller, Treasurer, and Senior Vice President of Planning. In 2012, she ascended to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, where she has since been tasked with managing the airline’s financial operations and initiatives, along with responsibilities in Supply Chain Management, Corporate Strategy, Fuel Strategy and Management, Fleet Strategy and Management, and Environmental Sustainability.
Linda Rutherford joined Southwest Airlines in 1992 as a Public Relations Coordinator, following her experience as a news journalist. Throughout her tenure at Southwest, she has concentrated primarily on the Communications sector, serving as Chief Communications Officer for seven years before transitioning to her current role as Chief Administration Officer. In this capacity, Linda supervises various functions, including Culture and Communications, Internal Audit, People, Talent and Leadership, Total Rewards, Technology, and Southwest University.
