With Mr. Mouhamed Faouzou Deme, the President of the African Tourism Council, board member of the African Tourism Board, member of World Tourism Network and its ambassador in Senegal, and top tourism advisor to the Senegal President wants to become Africa’s choice for UN-Tourism Secretary-General.
In 2021, Dene made Senegal proud when he received the Tourism Hero award from the World Tourism Network.
Deme Faouzou is the Author of “Insights on Senegalese Tourism.” He has a degree in Tourism Hospitality, Air Transport, and Airport Management. Faouzou Dème is an expert in hotel management and tourism management and a specialist in e-tourism.

This Tuesday, December 24, the world tourism hero sent letters to the Prime Minister’s Office and the Presidency to request the support of state authorities for his candidacy. He wants to represent Senegal and become the first African Secretary General of the UN Tourism (UNWTO)

Also running against the three new candidates is the current UN Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili from Georgia. He has managed to change the rules of procedure in UN Tourism and is currently a target in criminal investigations in Spain. He is trying to be re-elected for a third term in his controversial role as Secretary-General. His background is not tourism-related; he was a diplomat, Football manager, and banker.
