On Thursday, April 13, San Jose Director of Aviation Kim Becker and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Port Director Steve Baxter will unveil the $8.2 million expansion of SJC’s International Arrivals facility and cut a ribbon to officially mark its opening.
As the number of airlines offering international service at SJC has ballooned from three to nine in just the past couple years, the airport undertook a significant expansion of its International Arrivals building. The expansion includes a second baggage carousel and a temperature-controlled indoor waiting area for friends and family greeting arriving passengers.
The project was funded by available bond proceeds and enables SJC to offer a more fitting welcome to Silicon Valley for the thousands of passengers now arriving in San Jose from Europe, Asia and Mexico.
Mineta San Jose International Airport is Silicon Valley’s airport, a self-supporting enterprise owned and operated by the City of San Jose. SJC serves 10.8 million passengers annually, with 174 peak daily departures on 15 international and domestic carriers to 40 nonstop destinations.
