Agents, drivers, security ambassadors, and supervisors employed by Bags, a subsidiary of the Metropolis Company at San Francisco International Airport (SFO), have officially become members of Teamsters Local 665.

“We are delighted to welcome these new members into our Teamsters 665 family. They will now work alongside other Local 665 members who have shared their experiences regarding the transformative impact of Teamsters representation,” stated Tony Delorio, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 665.

“It is increasingly recognized among workers across various sectors that being a Teamster is essential for achieving improvements and ensuring dignity in the workplace.”

“The cost of living in the Bay Area is exceptionally high. We learned from other airport employees that the Teamsters have been securing favorable contracts with pay scales that align with inflation. After our discussions, every individual working at Bags agreed to join Local 665,” remarked Nyeisha Thornton, a Bags employee at SFO.

This organizing initiative comes on the heels of several recent successes for Local 665. Throughout the latest organizing efforts, the Teamsters Industrial Trades Division has supplied essential resources and enhanced support for the establishment of new bargaining units.

“These initiatives at airports and various other sites contribute to the overall strength of the Teamsters. Our division is committed to supporting successful organizing campaigns from inception to completion,” stated Rocco Calo, Director of the Teamsters Industrial Trades Division.

Teamsters Local 665 represents 5,000 active members across nine counties, encompassing a wide range of industries in Northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area.
