Today, Saint Martin officially attained the status of Associate Member of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). This achievement goes beyond a mere change in status; it serves as a resolute affirmation of the territory’s dedication to regional unity, collective prosperity, and substantial collaboration with its Caribbean counterparts.

Becoming a member of the OECS is a profound acknowledgment of the strength and potential inherent in Caribbean solidarity. For centuries, our islands have been interconnected through a rich tapestry of culture, familial bonds, migration, and mutual assistance. This advancement formally recognizes that our collective strength is amplified when we unite in our efforts.
“As a proud advocate for fostering valuable and meaningful collaboration within the region, I believe wholeheartedly that we are our brother’s keeper,” confirms Valérie Damaseau – Commissioner of Culture and Tourism of Saint Martin.
“In times of need and challenge, it has always been the Caribbean community that responds first, stands firm, and lifts one another up. We are not only each other’s first responders—we are also each other’s greatest opportunity.”
This collaboration with the OECS serves as a pathway to advancement that will benefit both Saint Martin and the broader region. It facilitates greater economic cooperation, cultural interactions, and collective development strategies, particularly in vital sectors such as trade, tourism, education, climate resilience, and public health. Additionally, it opens up new opportunities for enhanced air and maritime connectivity, ensuring that the people of the Caribbean are more interconnected than ever.

By joining this partnership, Saint Martin reaffirms its commitment to fostering a future where Caribbean nations excel in sustainability, innovation, and self-governance. As the region progresses, this alliance exemplifies the potential that arises when Caribbean territories unite—not only in spirit but also through coordinated efforts.
“Our culture, our bloodline, and our uniqueness are not only reasons to celebrate who we are—they are proof that the Caribbean is a force to be reckoned with,” continues Valérie Damaseau – Commissioner of Culture and Tourism of Saint Martin.
“This is not the end goal; this is the beginning of deeper collaboration, broader impact, and a shared vision that transcends our individual shores.”
Saint Martin eagerly anticipates making a significant contribution to the OECS and envisions a future in which Caribbean unity is both acknowledged and esteemed. United, we will surpass our boundaries. Together, we will forge a legacy characterized by strength, resilience, and limitless possibilities.
