The prospective immigrants from the USA and Canada are expected to fund the construction of the settlement themselves

The government of Russia’s Moscow Region has allegedly approved the project to build an “American Village” for 200 families of prospective ‘conservative immigrants’ from the US and Canada.

According to one of the authors of the project, Moscow-based immigration attorney Timur Beslangurov, the construction of the settlement will start in Moscow Region, in the Serpukhov district, which is south of Russian capital, in 2024.

The prospective migrants from the USA and Canada are expected to fund the settlement themselves, Russian attorney announced.

Beslangurov claims that tens of thousands of ‘conservative’ Americans and Canadians, including the ones with no Russian roots at all, would ‘like to move’ to Russia.

Most of the Western expats who want to move to Russia “strongly believe in the prediction that Russia will remain the only Christian country in the world,” Russian immigration attorney said.

For many years, Russia has portrayed itself as a bastion of “traditional” values in contrast with “decadent and decaying” Western liberalism, as its relations with the West have disintegrated over Russia’s 2014 annexation and occupation of Ukrainian Crimea and its 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

“Basically, they (the prospective immigrants) are Orthodox Christians, Americans and Canadians who, for ideological reasons, want to move to Russia,” he said.

“The reasons (for desire to move to Russia) are known, it’s the imposition of radical left-liberal values in the West, which basically have no limits. Today they have 70 genders, tomorrow who knows what,” Beslangurov declared, echoing Russian dictator Putin’s frequently deployed gripes about West’s comparative gender freedom.

According to Putin, Russia is in a ‘unique position’ to defend and spread conservative views, which he called ‘traditional Russian moral and religious values.’

“Many normal people do not understand this, and they want to emigrate. Many choose Russia but face a huge number of bureaucratic problems related to the imperfection of Russian immigration laws,” Beslangurov adds.

One potential group of immigrants are traditionalist Catholics who are ‘white Americans with many children,’ which the US government considers ‘domestic terrorists,’ the project advocate said.

No Russian government officials have officially confirmed plans for the settlement construction yet.

Russia has ranked among the world’s worst destinations for Western expats in recent years. It has also experienced a major slump in inbound tourism and other foreign arrivals after its aggression in Ukraine.

Russia claimed earlier this month that more foreigners are entering the country this year though, but it’s visitors from China and Central Asian nations, such as Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, who primarily contributed to the increase in visitor numbers.
