Known formerly as ECPAT-USA is now PACT and a member of WTN. PACT’s mission is to protect every child’s right to grow up free from child sexual exploitation and trafficking through education, legislative advocacy, and partnerships.
PACT today joined the World Tourism Network, a Voice for Small and Medium Sized Travel and Tourism Companies and Destinations as a member.
Hayley Elliot, the Senior Private Sector Engagement Associate representing Pact said in joining WTN:
Protect All Children from Trafficking – is the leading anti-child trafficking organization in the United States seeking to end child sexual exploitation and trafficking through education, partnerships, and legislative advocacy.
Individuals can get involved by taking free online e-learning courses, which educate them on the signs of trafficking and how to report it safely.
Businesses can join The Code, a global initiative that aims to raise awareness and provide resources to eliminate the commercial sexual exploitation of children. Additionally, individuals can support our mission through donations.
World Tourism Network Chairman Juergen Steinmetz said:
Human Trafficking and Exploitation of Children in Tourism is the darkest part of our business, but a sad reality. WTN President Dr. Peter Tarlow wrote a book about it that will be released shortly. I served on the former UNWTO Task Group against Sexual Exploitation of Children for almost 10 years until this important initiative was eliminated after a new UN Tourism Chairman became in charge of this UN-affiliated agency in 2018.
We at WTN look forward to working with PACT to address awareness and solutions for this crime, and encourage all our members to get involved.
