Prosecution of Bashar Al-Assad for Genocide and Gross Human Rights Violations

Putin

Bashar al-Assad is a Syrian politician and military officer who served as the 19th president of Syria from 2000 until his government was overthrown by Syrian rebels in 2024. As president, Assad was the commander-in-chief of the Syrian Armed Forces and the secretary-general of the Central Command of the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party. He is the son of Hafez al-Assad, president from 1971 until he died in 2000.

Bashar al-Assad has received asylum in Russia from the Putin regime and is currently enjoying life in Moscow.

Letter to the International Criminal Court, Human Rights Organizations, and the United Nations

Statistics indicate that Bashar Al-Assad, the leader of an authoritarian regime, has tortured, killed, and executed approximately 250,000 Syrian detainees, whose only “crime” was peacefully protesting against him. Imagine the horror behind these numbers. These atrocities do not stop at the detainees but extend to killing and displacing millions of Syrians and destroying their homeland.

What has occurred in Syria under this regime is a crime that shakes the conscience of all humanity and will be a stain on international justice if left unpunished. Bashar Al-Assad and all those involved in these crimes must serve as a lesson for history, humanity, and oppressive regimes worldwide.

We urge you to fulfill your moral and legal obligations by working to bring Bashar Al-Assad and those responsible for these heinous crimes to justice. We demand his public trial and sentencing in a manner that reflects the gravity of his action.
