The Saurya Airlines passenger plane crashed and immediately caught on fire.
On board were 17 technicians and 2 crew members of which all were Nepali citizens except for one engineer who was from Yemen.
The aircraft was being taken for regular maintenance work to be done at Pokhara’s new airport that opened early this year.

In a statement from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, it was confirmed that:
“Shortly after takeoff … the aircraft veered off to the right and crashed on the east side of the runway.”
The plane was seen flying above the runway when it tilted to the right before it crashed.

According to a spokesperson from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the Captain was the only person who survived and is being treated at a nearby hospital.
