New Tourist Safety Device of Spanish Police for Camino de Santiago Pilgrimmage

STAY AWAY FROM DANGERS

Look both ways before crossing. Walk through safe places and in a line when you go in a group.

Do not cross through places that are not indicated for it. If you have another option, make sure the area has wide visibility. Always cross perpendicular to the axis of the road.

DISTRUST OF STRANGERS

Not everyone has good intentions. Be careful with persons who gets too close to you with any excuse or

with which it collides with you in a seemingly fortuitous way. Do not trust the one who recommends shortcuts, places of interest, or services off route.

ALERTCOPS

This is a free application for mobile devices of the State Security Forces and Bodies. Among its many functionalities, it allows pilgrims to communicate in real time from their mobile any type of alert or emergency. It also will submit your positioning automatically to the Police, who will know where you are and can help.

PLAN YOUR WAY

Plan your journey in advance and without leaving too much prominence to improvisation or random movements. Check the accommodation network, the forecast time, make reservations, get authorizations, and find out about the distances, difficulties, and places to rest or places of interest.

DO NOT FORGET YOUR ID OR PASSPORT

Take and ID or passport with you. The authorities can require you to identify yourself.

WALK IN COMPANY AND BY DAY

The experience of the Camino will be more unforgettable if you go with people. Especially between the months of November and March, try not to go alone. If the weather is bad or the sun has fallen, take the opportunity to take a well-deserved rest, make a cultural visit, or explore with the heritage. Let others know where you are and where you intend to go.
