New Tourism Board CEO Louis Lewis decided on Saint Lucia over Tobago

The Board of Directors of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA) announced the appointment of Mr. Louis Lewis as Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2024. Mr. Lewis previously served as CEO and Director of Tourism at the Saint Lucia Tourist Board for a nine-year period before its rebranding to the Authority in 2017.

. Mr. Lewis previously served as CEO and Director of Tourism at the Saint Lucia Tourist Board for nine years before rebranding to the Authority in 2017.

Mr. Lewis previously enhanced the organization’s brand, increased airlift, and grew demand for Saint Lucia.

He also raised the international profile of the Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival.

As CEO of the Tobago Tourism Agency Limited (TTAL) for five years, he implemented innovative marketing strategies and partnerships that significantly boosted visitor numbers and enhanced Tobago’s global reputation.

Mr. Lewis holds an MBA in General Management and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of the West Indies (Cavehill Campus). He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and has completed advanced training in Tourism Destination Management at George Washington University, as well as various programs from the International Monetary Fund and the U.S. Federal Reserve.

Mr. Lewis expressed his excitement for his new role, stating, I am honored to lead the esteemed Saint Lucia Tourism Authority. This position allows me to return to my roots, and I am eager to bring my professional experience, resources, and networks to a dynamic team.

I will focus on strengthening our ties to the tourism trade, enhancing our destination’s appeal, and enriching the visitor experience. This appointment gives me a deep sense of personal fulfillment as I contribute to my homeland through the vital tourism industry.

Together, we can turn challenges into opportunities and continue to elevate Saint Lucia’s status as a premier global destination. Chairman Thaddeus M. Antoine expressed enthusiasm for Mr. Lewis’ appointment, citing his extensive experience and proven track record as the ideal fit for the next phase of tourism development.

Former CEO Lorine Charles-St. Jules was acknowledged for her valuable contributions, including successfully leading the SLTA during the pandemic recovery, earning thirteen major awards for the destination, revamping the diaspora marketing strategy through the Lucian Links Program, and integrating cultural elements into the island’s marketing.

Mr. Lewis’ return coincides with a pivotal moment in the global tourism industry. The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority, which has been the destination’s primary marketing agency since August 2017, will focus on high-profile events, international marketing, and strategic partnerships, including one with Puma® and Tourism Ambassador Julien Alfred, Saint Lucia’s Olympic Champion.

As CEO, Mr. Lewis will oversee all aspects of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority.
