The flag carrier of Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific, announced the expansion of its North America network with the introduction of non-stop flights between Hong Kong and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) for the first time. This new service, set to begin on 24 April 2025, will be Cathay Pacific’s sixth passenger destination in the United States and its eighth in North America. This development not only strengthens the airline’s presence on the continent but also enhances the global connectivity of its home base, Hong Kong.
Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer of Cathay Group, stated: “With our unique position of having deep roots in Hong Kong, being proudly part of China, and connecting the world, Cathay continues to build Hong Kong as a leading international aviation hub that connects people to the most exciting places in the world.”
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport ranks among the busiest airports globally. Through our codeshare agreements with Cathay Pacific and various other flight options, travelers can access over 190 domestic locations across the United States, in addition to 11 destinations in Central and South America via DFW. This significantly bolsters Hong Kong’s connectivity with North America and key countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
Currently, Cathay Pacific operates 88 round-trip passenger flights weekly to various North American cities, including Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Toronto, and Vancouver. To enhance its North American network, the airline will introduce four weekly round-trip flights between Hong Kong and DFW, utilizing its state-of-the-art Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. Reservations for Cathay Pacific’s DFW service are now available.
Cathay Pacific is set to enhance its North America passenger services in 2025, thereby offering increased options for travelers. By May, the airline plans to operate 108 return flights weekly. In addition to the newly introduced service to Dallas, this schedule will feature three return flights daily to New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, along with a daily return flight to both Boston and Chicago. Furthermore, Cathay Pacific is expanding its operations to Canada, providing two daily return flights to Vancouver and a total of 13 return flights weekly to Toronto.
The new passenger service to Dallas/Fort Worth will also support Cathay Cargo’s established freighter operations to the city via Anchorage. To meet the rising demand during the peak air cargo season, Cathay Cargo is launching five additional return freighter flights per week to North America starting this month. Overall, Cathay Cargo is currently managing up to 37 return freighter flights weekly to North America.
Cathay Pacific initiated its North America services with its inaugural non-stop flight to Vancouver in 1983. The airline’s long-standing presence in the North American market underscores the region’s ongoing significance within its broader network.
