New Calgary to Mexico City Flight on WestJet

WestJet has officially announced the launch of non-stop flights connecting Calgary with Mexico City International Airport (MEX). Starting on May 14, 2025, the airline will operate five flights per week, further solidifying its position as the leading carrier between Canada and Mexico, while enhancing Calgary’s role as a significant hub within the airline’s global network.

The service, which was last offered in 2018, is crucial for Alberta’s business community, providing essential access to one of North America’s largest consumer markets and a major global trading hub. Furthermore, small businesses and exporters in Western Canada will gain from the increased cargo capacity associated with this route.

With the addition of Mexico City, The WestJet Group, which includes both WestJet and Sunwing Airlines, will serve a total of 13 destinations in Mexico from 24 Canadian cities in 2025. The group will maintain its status as the Canadian operator with the most non-stop routes between Canada and Mexico, offering over 200 flights weekly during peak travel seasons. In 2024, the WestJet Group operated an average of 46 flights daily between Canada and Mexico, transporting more than 2.6 million passengers to and from the region.
