Air Serbia commenced its inaugural flight connecting Belgrade with Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province in southern China, on Monday.
Upon its arrival at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, flight JU988 was honored with a water arch ceremony, a prestigious form of welcome in civil aviation.
The airline intends to operate round-trip flights between Belgrade and Guangzhou twice a week, specifically on Mondays and Fridays.
On September 25, China Southern Airlines also initiated a direct air service between Guangzhou and Belgrade.
According to Deng Yonggang, the deputy general manager of the Guangdong Airport Authority, the launch of Air Serbia‘s Belgrade-Guangzhou route represents a significant advancement in aviation connectivity between China and Serbia, facilitating a more efficient air link for personnel exchanges and enhancing economic and trade collaboration between the two nations.
Air Serbia is the national flag carrier of Serbia. The company’s headquarters is located in Belgrade, Serbia, and its main hub is Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport. The airline was known as Jat Airways until it was renamed and rebranded in 2013.
