Recent findings from Ookla indicate that luxury hotels in Riyadh and Dubai are establishing new standards for high-speed internet access, boasting some of the fastest Wi-Fi networks in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
This research, utilizing Speedtest Intelligence data, evaluated Wi-Fi performance at 22 premier five-star hotels and resorts throughout the region, pinpointing outstanding performers and shedding light on regional trends in digital connectivity.
As travelers become more dependent on high-speed internet, hotels that focus on enhancing their Wi-Fi infrastructure can greatly improve guest satisfaction and foster loyalty.
The evaluation, utilizing data from October 2023 to October 2024, classified hotel Wi-Fi performance into three distinct categories. The highest tier included hotels that achieved a median download speed surpassing 100 Mbps, which can accommodate several 4K streams, facilitate rapid downloads, and ensure seamless video conferencing. Leading the rankings are the Four Seasons in Riyadh, Raffles the Palm, and Jumeirah Mina Al Salam in Dubai, with median download speeds of 154.75 Mbps, 122.82 Mbps, and 121.35 Mbps, respectively.
