Living in Denial! Biden & Trump: Reflection on Global Tourism

4 July

Providing thought-provoking coverage of travel industry issues in this era of tumult and turmoil is no easy task. And yet, alternative perspectives that challenge conventional wisdom are becoming more important, and necessary than ever.

This is the philosophy voiced by award-winning Thai travel journalist Imtiaz Muqbil, founder of Travel Impact Newswire, a content partner for eTurboNews. Here are his interesting, thought-provoking thoughts on the current situation in the United States, and on why tourism is ignoring them.

Geopolitical Instability has the biggest impact on Global Travel and Tourism directions

There is widespread acceptance that geopolitical instability caused by intensifying superpower rivalry is now set to have the biggest impact on global Travel & Tourism.

One prominent characteristic of this instability is the fraying role of the United States as the self-appointed global judge, jury, and executioner.

The disastrous debate between the two presidential candidates, which one prominent newsmagazine called a competition between a “con man and an old man”, worsened the global concern.

Living in Denial! Biden & Trump: Reflection on Global Tourism

The 04 July Independence Day brought it into even sharper focus.

These headlines of analytical commentaries in just four media outlets best summarised the prevailing thinking.

Take note of all American companies, CEOs, consultants, branding gurus, lawyers, and investors, especially in Travel & Tourism. Make no mistake. The sun is setting on the American empire. Just as it has set historically in every empire throughout human civilization.

The impact on Travel & Tourism will be severe in both depth and breadth.

Don’t expect any of our industry forums to even put it on the table.
Living in denial and sweeping issues under the carpet is the name of the game.
