UNITE HERE Local 5 hotel workers will vote Friday on whether to authorize a strike at Hilton Hawaiian Village — world’s largest Hilton, and the largest hotel in Hawaii — covering roughly 2,000 workers. UNITE HERE Local 5 hotel workers including housekeepers, cooks, bartenders, bellmen, food & beverage servers, and more, from the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

Hilton Hawaiian Village is the largest hotel and one of the most profitable Hilton properties in the world. Hilton was recently named the “World’s Number 1 Company to work for”; yet, weeks of bargaining went by without the company addressing key issues that matter most to hotel workers.

Workers are demanding Hilton to make one job enough to live in Hawaii. Workers are also fighting to address the issues of subcontracting, technology and automation, workplace safety, job elimination, and poverty wages at the Hilton Timeshare towers—all to ensure job security to thousands of workers impacted by this contract negotiations.

The voting will be held at Honolulu’s Ala Moana Hotel (Plumeria Room) on Friday, April 26, from 6:00am till 5:30pm. Vote results will be announced at the Ala Moana Hotel at 7:00pm and via release at 8:00pm.

Should workers vote to authorize a strike, a strike could be called at any moment.
