Western Air, a commercial airline based in The Bahamas, has officially announced the commencement of daily direct flights between Freeport, Grand Bahama, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
This new Western Air route is set to begin on Thursday, August 22, 2024, and will represent the airline’s second connection between South Florida and the islands of The Bahamas. With a short flight duration of approximately 25 minutes, these direct flights will provide both convenience and accessibility for residents of Grand Bahama and South Florida looking for an affordable and nearby escape.
Passengers will also benefit from complimentary checked baggage allowance of up to 40 lbs.
Upholding its renowned ticket flexibility, Western Air offers tickets that remain valid for one year, allowing travelers the liberty to modify their itineraries at any time without incurring penalties or change fees. Flights originating from Freeport will utilize Western Air’s private passenger terminal at Grand Bahama International Airport, which has been recently renovated and reopened following extensive damage caused by Hurricane Dorian in 2019. This modern, state-of-the-art passenger facility enhances the comfort and ease of the Western Air travel experience to and from Grand Bahama.
