A group of protesters was able to overcome high-security fences, able to force themselves to the runway of one of the largest and busiest airports in the World, Frankfurt International Airport (FRAPORT).

Dozens of flights approaching Frankfurt International Airport (FRAPORT) are rerouted. Thousands of passengers ready to check in are turned away.

FRAPORT is closed due to a protest. Climate activists managed to break high-security barricades and glued themselves to the runway at one of the busiest and largest airports in the world.

According to information received the closure may take several hours.

Frankfurt Airport posted to X:
Due to an ongoing demonstration at the airport flights are currently suspended.
Passengers are asked not to go to the airport for the time being.
Instead, it is recommended to check the status of your flight before traveling to the airport and allow extra time for your journey.

Passengers can call +49-1806-3724636. The cost is not free. FRAPORT likes to make money on it and will charge concerned travelers up to 60 cents a minute to call. When eTurboNews invested 60 cets and called the number a recording explained: “You are calling outside our regular business hours….”

On Wednesday, climate activists glued themselves to the tarmac at the Cologne/Bonn International airport.

German Minister of Transportation Volker Wissing wants the Federal Parliament to raise the penalty for invading the airport to five years in prison.

Glue is an effective option for climate activists in Europe.
