Feel the Han River, music, and cherry blossoms barefoot at Misa Hangang Moraetgil

The Misa Hangang Moraetgil along the Han River is a 4.9km-long walking trail exclusively for barefoot walking. The soft feel of sand under your feet, the Han River flowing under the warm sunlight. Just walking along the natural rhythm makes your body and mind feel light.

In 2024, Mongdoljiap-gil and Hwangto-ball-gil will be added, allowing for experiences that stimulate various senses. Speakers are installed on the walking path to play soft music, and in emergency situations, disaster broadcasts can be made, increasing safety. In particular, in spring, cherry blossoms bloom along the walking path. As you walk with your feet on the sand, your eyes on the flower petals, and your ears on the music, you will soon be filled with emotions that are different from everyday life. It is also suitable for family outings, as it is equipped with foot washing facilities, shoe racks, CCTV, and parking lots.

A feast of pink cherry blossoms and colorful tulips with a Misa Lake Park spring picnic

On a warm spring day, when you enter Misa Lake Park, the gentle scent of flowers and the calm waters of the lake greet visitors. The cherry blossom trees lined up brightly light up the park with their pink petals. As part of the “Beautiful Village Creation Project,” Hanam City planted tulips, daffodils, and other flowers on a large scale throughout the park. Even after the cherry blossoms fall, colorful flowers continue the flow of the season, vividly coloring the entire park.

On April 19, the Hanam City character award exhibition that was very popular last year will be reorganized and reinstalled. The 10-meter-tall exhibition created a craze for SNS certification shots last year and has become a new photo spot among citizens. It will also be a good memory to capture a special moment of a family outing with “Hanam-I” and “Bangul-I” at Misa Lake Park, where nature and art come together.

Union Park, where you can enjoy nature, experiences, and views

When you enter Union Park in Shinjang-dong, Hanam-si, the first thing you notice is the green grass and the smiling children. This is a large park that anyone can use, and when the weather gets warm, the laughter of children fills the air, and adults enjoy the leisurely sunshine. The most impressive place is the Union Tower Observatory. When you climb the 105-meter-high tower, you can see the Han River, Geomdansan Mountain, and Misa Rowing Stadium, all in one glance, all of Hanam. You can enjoy a cup of tea and the quiet scenery at the unmanned cafe inside the observatory.

Enjoy and communicate at “Stage Hanam! Busking”

If you want to spend a special weekend with your family, “Stage Hanam! Busking” is highly recommended and takes place on stages all over Hanam. This performance, planned by Hanam City and the Hanam Cultural Foundation, is a special cultural experience where you can experience various genres of art such as classical, jazz, Korean traditional music, and magic up close. There are many performances that children can enjoy, so it is popular with families.

In March, special performances held at Gamil Cultural Park and the neighborhood park next to Wiryeseong Library received great responses. In Gamil, taekwondo, K-POP dance, and Bbugirl stages created by youth clubs and local groups added to the excitement of spring, while in Wiryeseong, Nanta, Wacking Dance, a jazz band, and the band No Brain captivated people of all ages. Above all, it was meaningful in that it was a “participatory performance” prepared by the local community.

On April 19, a large-scale open performance will be held at the grass square of Misa Lake Park. It is the perfect place to enjoy a spring picnic by spreading out a mat while watching the performance. “Stage Hanam! Busking” is more than just a performance; it is establishing itself as an attractive outing course unique to Hanam where the whole family can enjoy and communicate together.

A warm path to walk while holding hands with a child at the Hwangtot Road of Gamil Cultural Park

The Hwangtoetgil Trail in Gamil Cultural Park is a special space where families can share health together in the city. In December 2024, Hanam City completed a barefoot walking facility that can be used all year round on 80 meters of the 220-meter Hwangtoetgil Trail. In winter, under a canopy that blocks snow and rain, electric heaters and hot water footbaths are installed, so you can walk barefoot on the warm Hwangtoetgil with your child even in the cold. The warmth of the Hwangtoetgil and the soft touch of the soil transmitted to the tips of a child’s feet as they walk while holding their small hand are unfamiliar but enjoyable experiences. The sense of nature transmitted with each step is also a positive stimulus for emotional development. The time spent washing feet with warm water after walking is healing in itself. There is a precious moment here where the family can walk and laugh together without having to go far or prepare much. In the short time of walking on the soil, the fatigue of the day disappears, and the parent’s footprints are engraved next to the child’s footprints.

Another luxury road in Hanam – a great place for walking in Wirye New Town

As you walk along the green forest path, soft sunlight seeps through the trees and the breeze lightly touches your clothes. The Wirye New Town Circular Road has been reborn as a space where you can feel nature and enjoy a quiet walk. Hanam City completed the Circular Road construction project in the Wirye New Town area with a total investment of 700 million won in 2023. This road, which used to be a military barbed wire inspection road, has been transformed into a green rest area where anyone can walk comfortably. A 0.5-kilometer section of the walking path, including a 33-meter-long wooden bridge and a dry yellow dirt road, has been newly developed, and a 0.2-kilometer section of the existing hiking trail has also been improved, creating a pleasant walking environment.

A civilian advisory group participated in the construction process, and the voices of citizens were carefully reflected in everything from the road configuration to the route and even the safety facilities. This road, where traces of a military base have been transformed into a resting place for visitors, is now a resting space open to everyone and has become another Hanam-style luxury road.

Life in the city, walking with family in Hanam

Hanam City is a city where flowers bloom, music flows, and children run around. In it, parents can feel safe and children can develop their dreams. Mayor Lee Hyeon-jae of Hanam City said, “I think Hanam should become a city where parents and children – both citizens and visitors alike – can walk together, feel together, and build memories together.” He added, “We have filled the city with places where families can laugh and simply enjoy life, such as a path along the Han River where you can walk barefoot, a forest path where you can walk along the colors of the season, and a stage where culture and art flow.” He continued, “Hanam is a city where children’s sensitivity and parents’ leisure coexist, a city where short days remain in long memories.”
