Vietnam Airlines and Emirates announced that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering a more profound commercial partnership between the two airlines. This expansion of their long-standing interline agreement represents a significant advancement in their collaboration and underscores their mutual dedication to enhancing connectivity between Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates.
The MoU was formalized during the Vietnam – UAE Business Forum, which took place at the Hilton Hotel Palm in Dubai. This agreement establishes a framework for broadening the existing cooperation between the airlines, including improvements in connectivity on routes that extend beyond the current interline arrangements. Additionally, the airlines will initiate discussions to explore potential collaborations in cargo and technical services, with the goal of providing seamless travel experiences for passengers.
Nguyen Chien Thang, the Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines, remarked that the Memorandum of Understanding with Emirates represents a pivotal achievement for the airline. He emphasized that this collaboration enables both airlines to harness the strengths of their networks, allowing Vietnam Airlines to enhance its international footprint and offer passengers greater flexibility and convenience. Thang expressed enthusiasm about the opportunities this alliance presents for reinforcing the connections between the two airlines and their respective nations, facilitating access for travelers to popular tourist destinations across Southeast Asia, the UAE, and beyond.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, stated that strengthening partnerships with aligned entities such as Vietnam Airlines is essential to their commercial strategy, aimed at improving customer connectivity beyond their extensive network. He expressed confidence that as the partnership evolves, they will be able to provide customers with unparalleled access and connectivity. Kazim noted that Vietnam represents a significant opportunity for boosting tourism and trade as a vital hub in Southeast Asia, and Emirates is committed to supporting the UAE government’s initiatives to enhance economic relations with Vietnam. He highlighted that their long-standing collaboration with Vietnam Airlines has improved connectivity between Vietnam and Dubai, and he looks forward to further advancing this partnership.
Vietnam, with its rich cultural heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and rapidly expanding economy, is increasingly becoming a focal point for travelers and businesses globally. The strengthening of this partnership signifies the ongoing efforts of both Vietnam Airlines and Emirates to promote enhanced tourism and business connections.
Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates formalized their diplomatic relations on August 1, 1993. In the three decades since, the bond of friendship and collaboration between the two nations has flourished across various sectors, including politics, diplomacy, trade, investment, labor, and tourism. In June 2023, the two countries initiated discussions regarding the Vietnam-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and have committed to concluding these negotiations promptly in order to facilitate the signing of the CEPA. The potential for economic and trade collaboration between Vietnam and the UAE is regarded as significant, given the complementary strengths of their respective economies.
