Egypt‘s tourism sector has seen significant growth in the past three years. Visitor numbers have surged from 4.9 million two years ago. According to data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, it is projected to reach 15 million or more this year.
In 2020, approximately 4.9 million tourists visited Egypt. This number was limited due to the global pandemic, which resulted in flight bans and various precautionary restrictions.
Hossam Hazza, a member of the Egypt Tourism Chamber, predicts that approximately 21 million tourists will visit Egypt next year. This positive trend can be attributed to efforts to revitalize the sector after the pandemic. These efforts include promotional campaigns aimed at improving Egypt’s global image and promoting low-cost aviation. The surge in tourism can be credited to Egypt’s proactive measures.
