The Caribbean tourism sector is preparing for an engaging week filled with discussions, insights, and networking opportunities as the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s (CTO) State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC) begins in Grand Cayman. Under the theme “Caribbean Tourism: Fueling our Lifeblood,” SOTIC 2024, organized by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism and the Ministry of Tourism and Ports, will address vital issues influencing the region’s tourism environment and examine innovative approaches for sustainable development.
The gatherings scheduled from September 2 to 6 at The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa will encompass business sessions involving the CTO Executive Committee, the Board of Directors, and the Ministerial Council. Commencing on Wednesday, the two-day SOTIC conference will present a varied array of speakers, panelists, and experts who will impart their insights and viewpoints on numerous subjects. Central themes will include:
- Sustainability: The conference will address the urgent need for sustainable tourism practices that balance economic growth with environmental protection and social responsibility. - Leadership and Legacy: The conference will also celebrate the achievements of women in tourism and explore strategies for fostering leadership and mentorship within the industry.
- Business Continuity Planning: SOTIC 2024 recognizes the importance of preparedness in the face of disruptions. This session will provide insights into strategies and best practices for mitigating disaster risks and ensuring the resilience of tourism businesses and the residents of the region.
