Since Emirates launched its first flight from Budapest in 2014, the airline has been instrumental in enhancing the airport’s global reach and delivering exceptional service to passengers.
Over the past ten years, Emirates has transported more than 1.5 million travelers between Budapest and Dubai, operating over 7,000 roundtrip flights. This service has opened a pathway for Hungarian tourists not only to the vibrant city of Dubai but also to other sought-after long-haul destinations such as the Maldives, Bangkok, and Australia.
In addition to passenger services, Emirates SkyCargo has strengthened Budapest’s role as a logistics hub, moving over 77,584 tons of cargo between Dubai and Budapest, thus supporting trade and industries reliant on efficient global supply chains.
“This 10-year milestone reflects the fruitful partnership between Budapest Airport and Emirates. Their dedication to the Hungarian market has not only improved connectivity but has also boosted tourism, trade, and job creation,” said Máté Ritter, Head of Airline Development at Budapest Airport. “We are eager to continue this journey together, welcoming more travelers and supporting the growth of Hungary’s aviation sector.”
The impact of this partnership extends beyond aviation; currently, more than 296 Hungarian nationals are employed within the Emirates Group, including 211 cabin crew members and 8 pilots, highlighting the global career opportunities the airline provides for the local workforce.
As Budapest and Emirates look to the future, both remain committed to delivering outstanding experiences for travelers and fostering regional growth and connectivity worldwide
